Privacy & data protection

Privacy policy

How we collect, use, store and protect your personal data — drafted under UAE Federal Decree-Law 45 of 2021 (the Personal Data Protection Law, "PDPL") and aligned with applicable international frameworks (GDPR, UK GDPR).

Last updated: 1 May 2026

1. Who we are

Noura Almaazmi Advocates & Legal Consultancy ("Noura Almaazmi", "we", "us", "our") is a UAE-licensed law firm. Our office is at 1702, Anantara Downtown Dubai, Al A'Amal Street, Business Bay, P.O. Box 414224, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. We are licensed by the UAE Ministry of Justice and the Dubai Legal Affairs Department.

We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website (almaazmilawyers.com) and any related services we provide.

2. What data we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Contact information: name, email address, phone number, organisation, country of residence — when you submit a contact form, subscribe to the newsletter, or engage us on a matter.
  • Matter information: any details you voluntarily provide about a legal matter when contacting us. We treat all matter information as confidential under UAE legal-professional-privilege rules.
  • Usage data: pages visited, time on page, approximate location (city/country), device and browser type — collected via standard server logs and lightweight analytics. No personal identifiers are collected via analytics without your consent.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: we use a small number of strictly-necessary cookies for the site's core functions (e.g. dismissing the newsletter modal so it does not show again). We do not use cross-site tracking cookies.

3. How we use your data

We use personal data to:

  • Respond to enquiries and provide legal services where we are formally engaged.
  • Conduct conflict checks before accepting any new matter.
  • Send you the UAE Legal Brief newsletter — only if you have subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Improve the website and our services through aggregated, anonymised analytics.
  • Comply with our legal, regulatory and professional obligations under UAE law.

4. Legal basis for processing

Under UAE PDPL Article 5, we process personal data on the following bases:

  • Consent: for the newsletter and any optional analytics.
  • Performance of a contract: for the provision of legal services once an engagement letter is signed.
  • Legitimate interests: responding to enquiries, conflict checks, internal records.
  • Legal obligation: regulatory recordkeeping and compliance with UAE legal-profession rules.

5. Who we share your data with

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only in the following circumstances:

  • Within the firm: with the partners, associates and support staff who need it to conduct your matter.
  • Co-counsel and correspondent firms: where appropriate to your matter and with your consent.
  • Service providers: our website host, secure-document platforms (e.g. the client portal at app4legal.com), email service provider, and IT and security vendors. These are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
  • Regulators and courts: only where required by law or where you have authorised us to act on your behalf.

Where we transfer data outside the UAE, we ensure adequate safeguards are in place under PDPL Article 22.

6. How long we keep your data

We retain client and matter data for the period required by UAE law and the firm's professional-conduct rules — typically a minimum of seven years from the closure of the matter. Newsletter subscription data is retained until you unsubscribe. Website usage logs are typically retained for 90 days.

7. Your rights

Under UAE PDPL Articles 13–17, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request deletion of your data, subject to our overriding legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Restrict or object to processing in certain circumstances.
  • Withdraw consent at any time (e.g., for the newsletter).
  • Lodge a complaint with the UAE Data Office.

To exercise any of these rights, write to privacy@almaazmilawyers.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Security

We apply technical and organisational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data we hold — including encrypted data transmission (TLS), restricted internal access on a need-to-know basis, secure document-management infrastructure, and staff training on confidentiality. No system is perfectly secure; if you suspect a security incident affecting your data, contact security@almaazmilawyers.com.

9. Cookies

This site uses only strictly-necessary cookies and `localStorage` entries for these specific purposes:

  • nl-shown / nl-dismissed: remembers that you have seen or dismissed the newsletter modal so it doesn't appear again.
  • nl-subscribed: remembers your subscription so the modal stops appearing.

We do not set tracking, marketing or advertising cookies. We do not load third-party tracking scripts.

10. International users

If you access this site from outside the UAE, you should be aware that your data is processed in the UAE. We comply with UAE PDPL and apply equivalent or stronger protections where required by your home jurisdiction (including GDPR for EU residents and UK GDPR for UK residents).

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage for at least 30 days.
